Pier 32 is a pretty cool place to live and I wanted to share a couple of cool things that have happened recently. Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner and some of the guys are planning a horseshoe tournament. It’s going to be a blast with food and drinks and girls in bikinis serving shots of tequila. I don’t like tequila, but I’ll take one for the team since it’s a Mexican holiday and I can see Tijuana from our cockpit.
April 17 on my way to work I saw smoke coming up from just outside the marina and saw there was a high voltage power pole on fire!
The pole is just across Sweetwater Channel from the marina. When I saw it there was already a fire truck on the scene, but they weren’t spraying. My hypothesis about why the fire started is that there was a short in the electrical wires because at that pole they transition from overhead to below ground. The marina was pretty that morning with the fire burning in the background.
Natalie saw the Google car in the parking lot. It looks like they were driving through National City and stopped at the Waterfront Grill for lunch.
